Letting the Stories of Jesus Impact Us
What is your favorite story of Jesus in the gospels?
I asked this question to students in classes ranging from 1st to 8th grade at St. Jude School the past couple of months. The stories shared ranged from the Nativity to post-Resurrection. In other words, students were captivated by Jesus's life from beginning to earthly end, the Resurrection, and beyond.
After students shared their favorite stories, I asked them to retell these stories as best as possible.
I then asked the students why that particular story captivated them. These answers were of great depth.
Each class painted a panorama of the life of Jesus.
Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were inspired by the Holy Spirit to tell us about Jesus. That is why they wrote the gospels.
We must let the gospels impact us. We must allow the stories about Jesus teaching, healing, saving, giving hope, and raising people from the dead to have an impact on us.
